Join in God’s mission

Really liked this definition of ‘missional’ – it’s not simply seeker-sensitive, it’s not actually emergent, it’s not really church-programme-focused.  Rather, it:

applies to the whole life of every believer. Every disciple is to be an agent of the kingdom of God, and every disciple is to carry the mission of God into every sphere of life. We are all missionaries sent into a non-Christian culture.

Missional represents a significant shift in the way we think about the church. As the people of a missionary God, we ought to engage the world the same way he does—by going out rather than just reaching out. To obstruct this movement is to block God’s purposes in and through his people. When the church is in mission, it is the true church.

AND, has anyone read Missional: Joining God in the Neighborhood,  and really liked it?  Wondering if it might be something we can use at our church, as we so need a ‘missional’ paradigm shift.

About stayingfaithful

I am looking for anything that relates to life and to a fuller life. I am bored by the normal and the natural and interested in the supernatural. There must be more than this. We were put on this earth for more than a nine to five prison, as someone said a few years ago.

  1. Based on your tag and reviews online, this looks very interesting and seems to address where we actually are as church and where we need to be in the community. If all else fails, use words. Have ordered and will give feed back when read.
    Thank you.
